Banks’ bike kept going and collided with Longo Borghini, who was then seen trying to disentangle the two bikes before throwing Banks’ off to the side.
Longo Borghini wrote on Twitter that her behaviour was “unacceptable.”
"Sorry for the bike throw today. It was done in the heat of the moment and I was very frustrated because the bikes would not untangle. It was unacceptable and I am truly sorry. My apologies to @biglateam, I would never intentionally cause damage to someone else or their property."
Banks had earlier acknowledged the incident before the apology but clarified that because she couldn’t get to her bike immediately she couldn’t rejoin the bunch.
