Derek Gee has formally cut ties with Israel-Premier Tech, ending a contract originally set to run until 2028.
The Canadian withdrew from La Vuelta last week on the eve of the race amid efforts to terminate the deal, sparking speculation over a move to Ineos Grenadiers.
On Tuesday, Gee confirmed via social media that his contract had been legally ended, stressing he had not spoken to or signed with any new team.
"I confirm that my contract with Israel-Premier Tech has been formally and duly terminated by my legal representatives," read a statement from Gee on social media.
"This was not an easy decision, but one I made after careful consideration and for legitimate reasons. Certain issues simply made my continuation at the team untenable.
"I want to make it very clear, despite some current reporting, this decision solely concerns the termination of my previous contract with Israel-Premier Tech.
"In accordance with UCI regulations, I have not yet signed with, nor even spoken to, any new teams.
"I wish to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff and riders I had the privilege of working with in my time in the organisation."
Gee, who finished fourth at the Giro d’Italia in June and ninth at the Tour de France last year, joined Israel Premier-Tech in 2023 after stepping up from the Israel Cycling Academy.
