Katie Archibald dislocates shoulder eight days after returning from double leg break - 'I want to hide from the world'
Katie Archibald has had a torrid time with injuries this calendar year, with none of them coming while the two-time Olympic champion has been racing. On Saturday, the 30-year-old announced she dislocated her shoulder eight days after making a victorious return from a double leg break. Archibald won her sixth world title in Ballerup last Thursday, with Britain's women's team pursuit squad.

Katie Archibald is “mortified” after suffering yet another injury set-back, just over a week after making her competitive return from a freak double leg break.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist won her sixth world title last Thursday, as part of Great Britain’s women’s team pursuit squad.
It marked a victorious return to the track, four months after the 30-year-old tripped over a garden step, resulting in two broken bones and two torn ligaments, putting paid to her hopes of competing at Paris 2024.
But eight days after her victory in Ballerup, Archibald found herself “drugged up to my eyeballs while every doctor in London gave relocating my shoulder a go,” the track cyclist posted on her Instagram account.
The Scot was competing at the inaugural London 3 Day event at the Lee Valley VeloPark alongside her UCI World Championship Madison partner Neah Evans.
The pair took bronze in Denmark earlier in October and won the Madison and team elimination events on Friday.

But Archibald did not suffer the dislocation while racing, revealing on Saturday afternoon that a “small stumble” while exiting the track hospitalised her.
“I had a mishap with my bike when coming off the track and a small stumble. That small stumble has resulted, SOMEHOW, in a shoulder dislocation. I don't know how I do this, I really don't,” continued Archibald’s Instagram post.

“I want to hide from the world and pretend I've not done something like this again. I'm mortified. But it's only going to be a small blip.
“Currently looks like I'll be able to continue with my racing schedule as planned. Just not as soon as tonight.”

Archibald ruled herself out of competing in the all-new competition in London on Saturday evening, but seems set to return for the UCI Track Champions League, which gets underway on November 23.
“Thank you so much to everyone at the event, especially my dreamy teamy who stayed with me through every relocation attempt,” added Archibald.
“Sorry to my mum who keeps having to find out which A&E I've gone to now. Back soon x”
