Muirhead became the youngest ever skip to lead a team to an Olympic medal in Sochi four years ago as Great Britain's women claimed bronze with a 6-5 victory over Switzerland.
She comes from a family rich in curling pedigree with her father, Gordon, having competed at the 1992 Games in Albertville. Younger brother Thomas is a member of the men's team under skip Kyle Smith.
As well as collecting numerous national and junior gold medals, Muirhead secured gold at the 2011 European Championship in Moscow and gold in the 2013 World Championship in Riga.
Muirhead is joined in her team by Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Lauren Gray, with Kelly Schafer as an alternate.
She said after her team's formal selection for PyeongChang:
