Shoaib Malik hits double century as Pakistan build big lead on second day

Shoaib Malik reached a maiden Test double hundred as England ended day two on 56-0, trailing Pakistan by 467 runs.

Alastair Cook and Moeen Ali saw England safely to the close of play, with the captain looking fluent as he reached 59 not out.
They have some way to go to get back into the match though as the hosts hit a mammoth 523-8 in their first innings.
Asad Shafiq hit his eighth Test hundred as he and Malik batted through the first two sessions on Wednesday to stretch Pakistan's total past 500 as England toiled in the Middle East heat.
The 33-year-old Malik became the sixth Pakistan cricketer to score 200 or more against England as he reached 245, while Shafiq hit 107 before being trapped lbw by Mark Wood.
Their stand of 248 was the highest ever for the fifth wicket for Pakistan against England.
After reaching 499-4 at tea, wickets tumbled as Pakistan chased quick runs in the hope of inserting England as early as possible.
Ben Stokes finished with figures of 4-57 while the tourists' spinners failed to take a single wicket in 69 overs. Adil Rashid posted the worst ever bowling figures by a debutant finishing on 0-163.
Malik, playing his first test in five years, surpassed his previous test best of 148 not out in the morning and his score at tea, which beats his best first-class highest of 200, is the fourth-highest ever by a Pakistani against England.
