Pakistan controversially decided to employ the same Multan pitch for the second Test in a row after their crushing defeat in the first match against England. The decision was rewarded when they completed a 152-run victory to level the series, with all 10 wickets taken by spinners. Eight of those were claimed by the star of the innings, Noman Ali, as England were dismissed for 144.

England were bowled out for 144 in their second innings as they suffered a 152-run defeat against Pakistan in the second Test as the home side dominated through spinner Noman Ali.
The visitors had a 1-0 lead going into the second match of the series, but after losing an important toss, found themselves struggling in Multan from the off.
England needed almost 300 runs from their second innings to claim victory, but were skittled for 144 as they chased a total of 297.
The home team had overhauled their side following the crushing defeat in the opening tie, and Ali was the star for the Pakistanis as he took eight of the ten wickets, bowling 16.3 overs and giving up just 46 runs in the process.Â
The spinner was helped by the re-use of the pitch from the first Test, an unusual decision but one that aided the spinners who exploited the dusty and worn conditions.
He took the wicket of opening batter Zak Crawley for just three runs, stumped by Mohammad Rizwan. Sajid Khan dismissed Ben Duckett, caught behind for a duck, and Rizwan claimed his second when he took Nick Pope for 22 caught and bowled.Â
Khan and Ali bowled unchanged throughout all of England’s innings, which is the longest a pair have bowled without interruption in a full Test since 1956.
Only Ben Stokes put up a modicum of resistance as he scored 37 from 36 before also being stumped, while Joe Root and Harry Brook added just 18 and 16 respectively.

The series decider will be held in Rawalpindi next week on Thursday, October 24. The change of venue means that the pitch should be fresher than the one used in the second Test, though the home side will be buoyed by levelling the series.
