Ex-England captain Joe Root and batter Harry Brook have been shortlisted for the ICC men’s cricketer of the year award.
Root is the No. 1 ranked Test batter in men’s cricket, having made 1,556 runs in 17 Tests and averaged 55.57 in 2024.
Brook briefly pipped him at the top of the rankings earlier this year, only for the 25-year-old to endure a poor third Test in New Zealand and hand top-spot back to Root.
Otherwise, Brook has enjoyed a brilliant year, having hit 317 off 322 balls in Multan to help England to their third-highest total in Test history against Pakistan in October.
It was England's highest score in 34 years and the first time an Englishman had scored a triple century since 1990.
You can catch both players in England's white-ball tour of India in January, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
India pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Australia batter Travis Head are the other male nominations.
Bumrah is the leading Test wicket-taker in 2024, having notched 71 at an average of 14.92.
Meanwhile, Head has scored three pivotal centuries across the year at an average of 40.53.
The women’s award has seen Australia's Annabel Sutherland, New Zealand's Amelia Kerr, South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt and Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu all nominated.

Kerr helped New Zealand to T20 World Cup glory earlier this year, taking a record 15 wickets during the tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
While Wolvaardt’s South Africa lost that final, the 25-year-old hit more runs (223) than any other batter in the tournament.
Elsewhere, Athapaththu helped Sri Lanka to Asia Cup success while Sutherland became just the ninth woman in history to make a Test double century back in February.
Root and Brook are also nominated for the men's Test cricketer of the year award.
