It was a great day out for Darius Visser when Samoa took on Vanuatu in the T20 World Cup qualifiers, the Samoan playing in just his third ever international T20 match. He hit six sixes to go with three no-balls off the unlucky Nalin Nipiko to break Yuvraj Singh's long-standing record for most runs in an over in T20 internationals.

Cricketers around the world had to spare a thought for Nalin Nipiko when Vanuatu played Samoa in the regional qualifiers for the next T20 World Cup.
The 28-year-old suffered a fate no bowler wants when he was hit for six sixes in an over by Darius Visser.
But to make matters worse, there were three no balls in the mix, meaning his over goes down as the most expensive in international T20 history.
Six sixes in an international over was first achieved by Yuvraj Singh against Stuart Broad back in 2007, in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in South Africa.
Since that group-stage match between India and England, the feat has also been managed by batters Kieron Pollard of the West Indies and Dipendra Singh Airee of Nepal.
But Visser’s six sixes when combined with those three no balls took his tally to 39, a new record for runs conceded in a single over.

Visser began the over with three maximums, before a no-ball and a further six. Then, remarkably, came a dot.
Two further no-balls were next - the latter also seeing Visser hit a six - with one last maximum for good measure.
The Samoan wound up with figures of 132 off 62 balls, at a strike rate of 212.90. He eventually got out in the 19th over, with Samoa recording a total of 174 all out.
According to ESPN, Visser’s run tally was the highest percentage of a team’s total in T20 history, another impressive record for the 28-year-old, who also bagged a wicket in Vanuatu’s chase.

Samoa went on to win the match by 10 runs, with Nipiko returning figures of 2-61 from his four overs.
Along with Broad, Nipiko joins Akila Dananjaya and Kamran Khan as bowlers to have conceded six sixes in an over, while Karim Janat and Azmatullah Omarzai have both conceded 36 runs in an over by other means.
Samoa are aiming to qualify for the next men’s T20 World Cup, which is due to be held in Sri Lanka and India in early 2026.
