England captain Ben Stokes is aiming to emulate former skipper Andrew Strauss in leading his side to an Ashes series victory in Australia, just as the Middlesex man did back in 2010-11.
The last series, played in England in 2023, saw an overall 2-2 draw as Australia retained the Ashes urn, which they have held since the 2017-18 edition.
England have tended to struggle in recent Ashes series Down Under, but during their victorious 2010-11 campaign, they found something very special.
Coach Brendon McCullum, overseeing his second Ashes series, will be hoping for a positive performance in this warm-up encounter ahead of the second Test at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
