England have not won a single Test match Down Under since the 2010/11 tour, and that trend continued in 2025 after falling to a third successive defeat as Australia retained the urn on home soil.
The NRMA Insurance men's Ashes series kicked off in the worst possible way for England, trailing Australia 2-0 after back-to-back eight-wicket losses.
The first took a mere two days in Perth, as their ultra-aggressive style proved the tourists' undoing with batting collapses.
Australia needed four days to get the job done with the pink ball in Brisbane as England improved - thanks largely to Joe Root's career-first away century in the Ashes - but were ultimately found wanting in the field and with the ball.
Adelaide was the destination for the crucial third Test showdown, which England had to win to stay alive in the series, with victory in sight for Australia.
The tourists had a target of 435 to cut Australia's two-Test deficit to one, helped by Travis Head's sensational 170 knock, and despite a determined effort, ultimately came up short and lost by 82 runs.
