The 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup will now be hosted in the United Arab Emirates and not Bangladesh after the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to move the site of the tournament. Bangladesh will still act as host nation, but all matches will be played in the UAE. Australia came out on top in the 2023 edition of tournament, which was held in South Africa.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup will no longer be held in Bangladesh.
The tournament will now take place in the United Arab Emirates, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board will still host the competition.
There have been reports of unrest in Bangladesh for several weeks, with the tournament set to take place in October.

ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice said every available avenue to proceed as planned had been explored before the decision was made.
“It is a shame not to be hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh as we know the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) would have staged a memorable event,” Allardice said in a statement.
“I would like to thank the team at the BCB for exploring all avenues to try and enable the event to be hosted in Bangladesh.
"But travel advisories from the governments of a number of the participating teams meant that wasn’t feasible.
"However, they will retain hosting rights. We look forward to taking an ICC global event to Bangladesh in the near future."
Bangladesh will start their tournament in Group B alongside England, Scotland, South Africa and the West Indies.
The UAE co-hosted the Men’s T20 World Cup with Oman in 2021, and is the location of the ICC headquarters.

Australia won the tournament in 2023, defeating hosts South Africa in the final in Cape Town.
Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe had also offered to step in as hosts before the ICC opted to go with the UAE.
Allardice believes both nations will get the chance to host ICC events in the years to come.
“I’d also like to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in to host on behalf of the BCB," he added.
"And Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for their generous offers of support. We look forward to seeing ICC global events in both of those countries in 2026.”
