Wilson aiming for win

Britain's Justin Wilson believes his Portland podium finish marked a turning point in his season, and is confident he can continue his new momentum in this weekend's ChampCar World Series race at Cleveland.

The 28-year-old RSPORTS driver moved up from eighth to fifth in the championship with his second place last time out and is coming off the back of an encouraging test for his team at Road America.

"I really enjoy the Cleveland circuit", Wilson said. "We hope that we can continue to be competitive there."

Wilson suffered heartache at the track set out on the runways of the Burkefort Lake airport in Ohio, looking set for victory before a broken steering arm caused his retirement.

"Last year was very disappointing, but I'm hoping we can fight for the win again and this time put the car in victory lane," he added.

"If we can continue the positive momentum from our podium finish in Portland, then we can go out there striving for our first win of the season this weekend."

Winning will not be easy though, as he found out in Portland, where he built up a 16-second lead but was still unable to fend off the late-race advances of Sebastien Bourdais, who went on to win his third race in a row.

Wilson is currently 36 points behind Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing driver Bourdais in the championship.
