Munroe, known as ‘The Boxing Binman’ for his well-publicised dayjob, finishes with a professional record of 24-3-1.
After his bout with Quigg for the vacant interim WBA super bantamweight title ended on a technical draw in June courtesy of an accidental cut to Munroe’s eye, the 32-year-old lost the rescheduled bout in six rounds on the undercard of Ricky Hatton’s comeback fight.
Munroe challenged Toshiaki Nishioka for the WBC version of the division’s belt in October 2010, losing a unanimous decision after 12 rounds.
"I'm always positive and forward thinking and I've had a great career. I am 100 per cent proud of what I have done," Munroe said.
"I was English, Commonwealth, European and WBA international champion and a world title contender."
