On another stacked card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, it was Frazer Clarke and Fabio Wardley who competed for the British heavyweight title before the headline event of Artur Beterbiev v Dmitry Bivol. Ultimately, it was Wardley who emerged victorious after just two minutes and 22 seconds, settling their rivalry - probably for good - after the two Britons had fought to a draw earlier in the year.

Fabio Wardley knocked out Frazer Clarke on Saturday night in Riyadh as the two settled scores after their contest earlier in 2024.
Wardley retained the British and Commonwealth heavyweight belts with a brutal first-round knockout that left Clarke dazed and struggling in the corner.
The two fought back in March at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, battling to a split-decision draw in London. Back then, the WBO European, Commonwealth, and British heavyweight belts were all on the line.
The two unbeaten heavyweights stepped back into the ring to settle matters once and for all on the Artur Beterbiev v Dmitry Bivol card in Saudi Arabia.
While the last fight went the distance, the rematch was brought to a brutal, quick close.
Wardley had his opponent in trouble almost from the opening bell, and when Clarke had his back turned, he spun round to face the right way once more.

In that moment, he left himself open to a heavy-handed flurry from the defending champion, and he found himself pushed back towards the corner.
Wardley then struck Clarke with such a vicious blow that it left a visible dent on his face, and the beaten man took a knee before the referee had to step in.
After his win, Wardley will hope to kick on to a higher-profile fight, perhaps with an outside chance of challenging for a belt once Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury face off in December.
Clarke, beaten on the night, will surely be disappointed and could now struggle to reassert himself as he challenges for recognition on the global stage, though he remains a solid fixture of British boxing.
