Fabio Wardley ready for 'battle of the bombs' with Deontay Wilder after Frazer Clarke knockout

Fabio Wardley's dominant, brutal and one-sided victory over Frazer Clarke on Saturday night in Saudia Arabia was a highlight in an entertaining card. After his impressive knockout win, the British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion said he was confident that he could defeat Deontay Wilder if he was offered a shot at the Bronze Bomber.

British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley wants a “battle of the bombs” against former world champion Deontay Wilder.
Wardley was the co-main event ahead of the Artur Beterbiev v Dmitry Biviol light heavyweight clash in Saudi Arabia last Saturday, and produced the most thrilling finish on an already eventful night.
The evening in Riyadh had already seen Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron fly over the ropes to bring their bout to an early clash, but the circumstances were even more dramatic for Wardley against Frazer Clarke.
The two ran it back after a hard-fought draw earlier in 2024, and while that clash had gone the full 12, this one did not go the full three minutes of the first round.
Instead, Wardley’s flurry of blows left Clarke on his knee and needing surgery to correct visible injuries to his head, and that performance has led to suggestions that he should be put in with a bigger name, especially if he wishes to prove himself at world title level.
One man in the frame could be Deontay Wilder, who now has back to back defeats against Joseph Parker and most recently, Zhilei Zhang.

The American is a former WBC heavyweight champion and while he was certain to return to the ring after those losses, he has not ruled anything out.
Wardley was asked on Box Nation if he would be willing to face down the Bronze Bomber if the chance was offered to him.
He gave a straight answer, saying: “Yeah, I would. It was an interesting name that I saw thrown into the mix on Twitter and things like that, but I’d jump in and give it a go.”
Wardley added that he fancied his chances given his recent improvement, explaining: “I’d happily back myself against him, because ultimately it’s a battle of the bombs, and who could land first, and who could land cleaner. I think boxing IQ-wise and start-wise, I’m proving that
“I’m gaining more experience, more knowledge, knowing more about my opponent, knowing more about myself. Having Ben [Davison] in my corner, who’s already faced Wilder, is a huge advantage.”
He then concluded by giving a warning to the rest of the heavyweight division beyond Wilder.
“I have arrived,” he claimed. “There’s no more denying, no more if, buts, maybes. I’m here to stay.”
