Denzel Bentley continued his climb back up the middleweight ranks with a second-round knockout of Derrick Osaze at York Hall on Saturday.
The card, live on TNT Sports, was topped by Bentley against Osaze and the former found a stunning punch to secure the victory.
At the end of 2023, Bentley’s career suffered a setback with defeat to Nathan Heaney - which came 12 months after his loss to Janibek Alimkhanuly when challenging for a world title.
Bentley bounced back with victory over Danny Dignum in May to claim the WBO International middleweight title, and he continued his upward progress with an impressive defence.
Osaze made a bright start and tagged Bentley early in the second, but the fight was turned on its head by a stunning right uppercut from the latter with 43 seconds remaining in the round.
Bentley’s punch landed flush on its target, and Osaze looked out cold before hitting the canvas.
The referee quickly waved off the contest as Bentley made a statement to the rest of the middleweight division.
“That was a good punch,” Bentley told TNT Sports. “It was a clean shot.”
Bentley only fought three months ago, but is looking to remain busy.
“Activity is the key,” Bentley said. “If I can get out again I am good
“I am in the gym working hard, and working hard with nothing to aim towards it can make you go stale.
“If I have a date I automatically put myself up and I am motivated by something to work towards.
“Activity is the key for me.”
