Johannes Thingnes Boe capped off an incredible career in Oslo on Sunday as he bid farewell to the sport following the World Cup 15km mass start.
Sweden's Sebastian Samuelsson came out on top in the race, while Eric Perrot (France) and Endre Stroemsheim (Norway) rounded off the podium positions.
Down the pecking order, 31-year-old Boe finished seventh in his final race, crossing the line a shade over 41 seconds behind winner Samuelsson's time of 39:11.8.
In the Total Score standings, Boe finished in second place with 1173 points, while Sturla Holm Laegreid of Norway took the Crystal Globe with 1291 points.
Johannes' brother, Tarjei Boe, who is also stepping away from the sport, finished eighth with 679 points.
"It's been a long journey for us and it comes down to this moment," said Johannes.
"This is the last finish line we cross in the World Cup and we've had a journey, as family, as brothers in this field, it's been a ride. I've been so happy to do it with you, Tarjei.

"It's been a wonderful week for us. We are so lucky, we have felt so loved by everyone and yeah, it couldn't be better. This is the strongest memories I have in the sport, from this weekend."
Tarjei added: "It's just an incredible day, my first day here this week and I'm just so happy I'm able to come to the start and enjoy it.
"I feel it's starting now, the next life, but also this day. When we crossed the finish line, every athlete, team-mate, were so happy and so kind and said so many nice words, I try to sink it in, everything."
During a title-laden career, Johannes clinched five Olympic gold medals, including four which came in a hugely successful 2022 Beijing Games in which he won the 10km sprint, 15km mass start, 4x7.5km relay and the mixed relay.

In addition, he won two silver medals and a bronze, one of which came in the 20km individual race in the Chinese capital to take his medal tally up to five for that particular Games.
He is also a 23-time world champion, winning his first in 2015 before his 23rd a decade later earlier this year in Lenzerheide, where he took gold in three separate disciplines.
Johannes has the second most individual World Cup victories in history with 90, while he has won the Biathlon World Cup on five separate occasions.
His older brother Tarjei, 36, does not have a bad record either, having won three Olympic titles and 12 World Championship titles.
