Garnett said he felt his top-seeded team still had not played as well as they can.
"We aren't playing our best right now but we're beating them," Garnett said. "We want to go home now and close this out," he added in reference to the fifth game in Minneapolis on Thursday.
The Nuggets had the opportunity win the game with 11.7 seconds remaining after Latrell Sprewell missed two free throws but they missed a couple of shots in the dying seconds, giving Minnesota the win.
Sam Cassell scored 15 points for the Timberwolves, while Trenton Hassell added 14 and Sprewell 13.
Denver rookie Carmelo Anthony shot just 1-for-16 from the field and scored just two points. Voshon Lenard led Denver with 28 points.
Andre Miller added 13 points for the Nuggets, Nene had 11 points while Marcus Camby contributed nine points and had 14 rebounds.
DAVIS LEADS HORNETS
Baron Davis had 23 points and 10 assists as the New Orleans Hornets beat the Miami Heat 96-85, tying up their NBA Eastern Conference first round best-of-seven playoff series at 2-2.
The Hornets' experienced players rose to the occasion on Tuesday, especially 13-year veteran Stacey Augmon, who scored 17 points coming off the bench and George Lynch, who had 11 points and five rebounds.
David Wesley and Jamaal Magloire scored 12 points each for New Orleans, who led for most of the game, but had to survive a late rally as the Heat closed to within three in the fourth quarter though it was eventually spoiled by several key miscues.
Lamar Odom led Miami with 25 points while Eddie Jones scored 16 points and rookie Dwyane Wade added 11.
Miami's leading scorer in the regular season, Caron Butler, managed just seven points on 3-for-11 shooting.
As was the case in game three, Tuesday's game was far from a sell-out with just 16,009 fans attending at the New Orleans Arena. The series now moves back to Miami on Friday.
