Zydrunas Ilgauskas hit the game-winning basket with 37 seconds remaining as the Cavaliers hung on to upset the defending champion San Antonio Spurs 89-87 in NBA play in Cleveland on Friday.
LeBron James had 32 points and hauled down 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who improved to 21-34. Ilgauskas wound up with 16 points and 12 rebounds as the Cavaliers delighted a crowd 20,562 with the thrilling win over the Spurs, who slipped to 36-19. Jeff McInnis added 15 points for Cleveland, which won for just the second time in seven games.
Tim Duncan had yet another double-double for the Spurs, scoring 21 points and added 12 rebounds. But he was just nine-for-28 from the field as the Spurs shot just 38 percent. Manu Ginobili scored 21 points for the Spurs, while Tony Parker chipped in with 15 points.
San Antonio, playing the sixth game of a season-high seven game road trip, made two costly turnovers in the final 20 seconds to end any chances of a late winning basket.
In Toronto, Jason Kidd tied a season-high with 15 assists as the New Jersey Nets won their franchise-record 12thstraightgame, 91-72 over the injury-plagued Toronto Raptors.
New Jersey coach LawrenceFrank extended his own record for most wins at the start of a coaching career with his 11th straight victory. Richard Jefferson led New Jersey with 20 points as the Nets continue their comeback after a poor start to the season. Kerry Kittles added 19 points for the Nets.
The previous club record for consecutive wins was 11, set from December 23, 1982 to January 12, 1983.
The Raptors never led in the game and lost their fourth straight. VinceCarter and JalenRose are both out with injuries as Toronto slipped to 25-29.Donyell Marshall had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Raptors.
In Washington, ReggieMiller scored 24 points, 11 of them in the fourth quarter, as the Indiana Pacers beat the Wizards 96-87. Jamaal Tinsley hit two key 3-pointers in the final 1:10 to help the Pacers win for the fourth time in five games. Gilbert Arenas scored 27 points for the Wizards, who have lost four straight games.
In Orlando, Juwan Howard scored 24 points to lead the Magic past the Denver Nuggets 102-98 despite the ejection of TracyMcGrady. Drew Gooden added 16 points and 12 rebounds for Orlando, which won despite McGrady being tossed out of the game for kicking the ball into the stands twice at the end of the first half.
CarmeloAnthony scored 35 points for the Nuggets, whose three-game winning streak was ended. Marcus Camby added 12 points and 20 rebounds.

In Detroit, Kevin Garnett had 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Pistons 88-87. Sam Cassell added 16 points for the T-Wolves, while Latrell Sprewell chipped in with 12. Chauncey Billups had 20 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for his second career triple-double for the Pistons, while Ben Wallace added 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Newly-acquired RasheedWallace scored four points in one half but was told to sit out the second half and the NBA ruled the properpaperwork had not been filed with the league from the trade that brought him to Detroit from Atlanta on Thursday.
In Chicago, Peja Stojakovic scored 24 points as the Sacramento Kings beat the Bulls 91-83. Vlade Divac added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings, who lost Bobby Jackson in the first half with an abdominal strain. Jamal Crawford led Chicago with 23 points.
In Memphis, James Posey scored 18 points as the Grizzlies beat the Phoenix Suns 97-92. Pau Gasol added 17 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis. Shawn Marion had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Suns, while Amare Stoudemire led all scorers with 23 points.
In Los Angeles, Shaquille O'Neal had 29 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lakers to a 116-88 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Kobe Bryant added 28 points for the Lakers, who have won three straight games and five of their past six. Kenny Thomas led Philadelphia with 22 points and nine rebounds.
In Oakland, the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Golden State Warriors 94-93. Zach Randolph scored the winning basket with 1.8 seconds remaining thanks to a clear assist from Damon Stoudamire. Jason Richardson led Golden State with 22 points.
