NBA superstar Kevin Durant ‘100% committed’ to playing for Team USA at Paris 2024 Olympics

Team USA are on the cusp of forming one of the best line-ups in the history of Olympic men’s basketball after Kevin Durant said that he is "100% committed" to playing in Paris next year. Steph Curry, LeBron James and Joel Embiid have already said that they are keen to play. It would be Curry's first appearance at an Olympic Games. Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant has said that he is “100% committed” to the idea of playing for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Durant, 35, is widely regarded as one of the best ever players with an MVP and two NBA titles to his name.

He is a three-time gold medal winner with Team USA at the Olympics and is their men’s all-time leading scorer at the event.

Should he play and win another gold in Paris next year he will become the first man to ever win four gold medals in basketball.

Speaking to Yahoo Sports during the NBA pre-season, Durant said he is definitely interested in playing as long as he is asked.

“I’m 100% committed,” Durant said.

“It’s on whoever is making the calls. They put the team together, they make the calls, but yeah, I’m committed to playing this summer. If they would have me on the team.”

Durant also joked that “I doubt they will [turn me down]", adding: "I’ve been in the system for too long, I feel like I’m grandfathered in, being around as long as I have.”

Durant could form part of a truly astonishing line-up for the USA, one that could come close to resembling the infamous Dream Team at the 1992 Olympics.

That team featured the likes of Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, Clyde Drexler and Patrick Ewing.

Durant's former Golden State Warriors team-mate Steph Curry, and LA Lakers superstar LeBron James have also expressed an interest in playing in Paris.

While, the defending MVP Joel Embiid has declared that he has decided to represent the US rather than Cameroon or hosts France.

Other big names who have expressed interest if chosen include Trae Young, Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker, Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, Draymond Green, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
