NBA: LA Lakers bounce back to hand Detroit Pistons record loss, Nikola Jokic's triple-double leads Denver Nuggets to win

LeBron James and the LA Lakers knew they needed to respond after suffering a demoralising loss against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. And they did, bouncing back with a convincing win over the Detroit Pistons who continued their record losing streak. Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic was the star once again as the Denver Nuggets beat the Houston Rockets with Jamal Murray making his return from injury.

The LA Lakers bounced back from their disappointing defeat in Philadelphia to secure a 133-107 win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
It was the perfect response from LeBron James' Lakers after he suffered the heaviest loss of his professional career against the 76ers on Monday.
James made it clear that "a lot" had to change after the loss, and his team stepped up in Detroit with D'Angelo Russell scoring a season-high 35 points.
Anthony Davis notched 28 points and James contributed 25 as the Lakers got their season back on track.
“We responded well," James said after the game. "We played a lot better.”
“D’Lo and AD got us started out with the hot streak they had in the first quarter, and we all picked it up off of that."

It turned out to be a miserable night for the Pistons who suffered a record 15th straight defeat for the first time in the franchise's history.
“This group struggles with adversity,” said Pistons coach Monty Williams, who is in his first season in charge.
“My job is to help our guys fight through this. I told our guys, one way you gain this respect in this game and in life is when you’re going through a tough time, you hang in there.”
Elsewhere, Nikola Jokic was the star man for the Denver Nuggets once again as his triple-double led them to a 134-124 win over the Houston Rockets.
The 28-year-old had 32 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds to record his seventh triple-double of the season.
Heading into Wednesday's round of matches, all other NBA players had combined for just eight triple-doubles.

The reigning NBA champions were also boosted by the return of point guard Jamal Murray, who had missed their previous 11 matches with a hamstring injury.
Murray scored 16 points on his comeback as Denver continued their winning streak at home with a record of 9-0 at the Ball Arena.
“The hamstring’s fine," Murray said after the game. "I’ve worked enough to get it back to strength. Now, it’s just another thing. I’ve got to work on that and hopefully I’ll be ready.”
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors ended the Phoenix Suns' seven-game winning streak with a 112-105 victory as Scottie Barnes led the way for them with 23 points.
Suns star Kevin Durant returned from injury to drop a game-high 30 points although Devin Booker struggled from the field and only scored six points.
The LA Clippers recorded a much-needed 131-117 win at the Sacramento Kings with Kawhi Leonard and James Harden combining for 60 points.
Zion Williamson led the way with 33 points as the New Orleans Pelicans won 124-114 against the Philadelphia 76ers while the Washington Wizards' poor campaign continued with a 139-120 loss at the Orlando Magic.
