Woeful Bologna sack Frates
ByTNT Sports
Still the only winless team in Euroleague play after Thursday's 86-90 home loss to Cologne, Serie A side Climamio Bologna sacked coach Fabrizio Frates on Friday.
Frates, who joined the club from Reggio Emilia this season, will be replaced by former Montepaschi Siena coach Ergin Ataman.
"We thank Frates for the work he has done, but we didn't achieve the expected results," the club said in a press statement.
Frates led the club to a 3-4 record in Serie A play this season, after Climamio claimed the best regular season record in Italian play last season and made it to the Serie A championship before losing to Benetton Treviso.
The 40-year-old Ataman brings extensive Euroleague experience to the club, having taken Siena to the 2003 Final Four in the team's Euroleague debut.
Last season the Turkish Ataman quit Ulker Istanbul after the club went 1-5 in the Euroleague Top 16.
