Olsson added on his website that he planned to start competing again in June, two months ahead of the world championships in Helsinki.
The Swede's original plan had been to compete both in the triple jump and high jump indoors.
"I haven't forgotten about the high jump but will instead compete in a number of high jump competitions this summer," Olsson said.
