Lara Gut-Behrami masters tricky conditions to continue fine form with downhill success in Crans-Montana

Swiss star Lara Gut-Behrami stretched her lead in the race for the crystal globe with a win in the World Cup downhill event in Crans-Montana. Gut-Behrami admitted she "didn't have a great feeling" but managed to make it four wins in five, finishing 0.21 seconds clear of compatriot Jasmine Flury and Austria's Cornelia Huetter. The victory increased her lead in the overall standings to 105 points.

Lara Gut-Behrami continued her fine World Cup form with downhill success to kick off the weekend in Crans-Montana.
The 32-year-old's triumph on home snow marked her fourth win in five races and a first in downhill for two years.
Gut-Behrami stopped the clock in a time of 1:19.11, 0.21 seconds clear of both compatriot Jasmine Flury and Austria's Cornelia Huetter, stretching her overall lead in the race for the crystal globe to 105 points from the injured Mikaela Shiffrin.

She is also closing in on the overall downhill lead, now just 41 points behind Sofia Goggia - who will miss the rest of the season through injury.
"It was not an easy run," she said. "The snow is pretty soft so everything gets more challenging.
"I have to say I didn't have a great feeling, I just tried to push hard.
"I think today the difference was about the attitude. I made a few mistakes, sometimes my ski wasn’t catching.
"It was a fight to stay on my skis and try to be fast."
Action continues with another downhill on Saturday before a super-G on Sunday.
