Daniel Yule makes history with incredible comeback to triumph in Chamonix slalom World Cup - 'Absolutely incredible'

Switzerland's Daniel Yule delivered a stunning second run to move from 30th to first in France, overturning the biggest deficit in slalom World Cup history. It was also the first time since 1978 that two Swiss athletes finished on the top two steps in the podium, after Yule's compatriot Loic Meillard came second. Frenchman Clement Noel finished third - 0.18 seconds adrift of Yule.

Daniel Yule moved from 30th to first in the men's slalom with an incredible second run to claim a first World Cup win of the season.
Fellow Swiss skier Loic Meillard moved up from fifth to second despite posting the 17th fastest time on the second run, as athletes battled tricky conditions.
The Switzerland 1-2 marks only the second time in history that Swiss athletes have occupied the top two steps on the podium, last happening in 1978.
"Absolutely incredible," Yule said in quotes published by fis-ski.com.
"I've got to say I got really lucky staying 30th after the first run, but then I managed to ski an amazing second run.
"It was a long wait down here, but a nice one."
Yule's time of 49.02 saw him make the cut for the second run by just 0.05 seconds before comfortably delivering the fastest time of the second attempts.
After scraping into contention, Yule admitted that winning the race altogether never crossed his mind.

"I'd already packed my bags and I was ready to go back to the hotel, but then I got an opportunity to ski the second run," Yule added.
"I thought, 'okay, it's warm weather, you have a perfect track,' so we can maybe go and fight for a top 10 or something, but I never dreamt about the win."
Meillard finished 0.16 seconds back with Clement Noel of France unable to claim a win on home snow as he dropped from first to third, 0.18 seconds behind Yule.
Yule is now up to third in the overall slalom World Cup standings, 13 points ahead of Noel with leader Manuel Feller of Austria 164 points clear of Linus Strasser in second.
