Another weekend, another Manchester United defeat to unpick. Michael Carrick's side went down 2-0 to Chelsea in the Premier League, despite putting in a much-improved display.

Bruno Fernandes returned to the Man Utd starting XI after being dropped following his thinly-veiled criticism of the boss and his staff, but he was unable to inspire victory.
Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer netted for Chelsea, while Lisandro Martinez was sent off after conceding a penalty following an "absolutely crazy" challenge from a corner.
Here are the player ratings from Stamford Bridge...

Chelsea

Mike Penders - 7 - Made a sensational late save to tip a Bryan Mbuemo ripper onto the crossbar. Overall, a very assured display. A welcome weekend out of the headlines awaits after his nightmare against Spurs.
Josh Acheampong - 6 - A lucky boy. It could have been an entirely different afternoon had Bruno Fernandes not blazed over after his early error.
Wesley Fofana - 5 - Two glaring lapses in the first half went unpunished. Improved after the break.
Levi Colwill - 7 - Much more assured than his defensive colleagues. Led well from the back.
Marco Palestra - 6 - Had a tough assignment to keep Amad Diallo under wraps. Not perfect, but did OK against the lively Ivorian.
Moises Caicedo - 7 - The glue that keeps the remarkable attack and shaky defence just about working in tandem. But was outshone by...
Romeo Lavia - 8 - First thought: 'can I spark an attack?'. Stepped in when Caicedo lost possession in midfield, rode a couple of challenges and played in Morgan Rogers for the opening goal. A statement performance from the Belgian.
Estevao Willian - 7 - Lashed home a terrific third into the roof of the net, only for VAR to wipe it out. Electric in possession and the fans love him, but often kept his head down rather than looking for a teammate. Is the all-round game there?
Cole Palmer - 7 - Not the best penalty by any means, but providing they go in, it's all good. Frustrated at times but a decent display.
Pedro Neto - 6 - Got in some promising positions, and had one shot that flashed across goal, but this victory wasn't built on the Portuguese winger.
Morgan Rogers - 8 - The standout player along with Lavia. Super silky. Popped up all over the pitch. Grabbed the opening goal. Wore a cheeky grin throughout.
Subs
Pep Chavarria - 6 - Showed some promise going forward as Chelsea looked to inflict more pain on 10-man United.
Danny Welbeck (on 87') - N/A
Malo Gusto (on 87') - N/A
Valentin Barco (on 87') - N/A
Geovany Quenda (on 90+7') - N/A

Manchester United

Senne Lammens - 6 - Made one superb stop from Estevao at full stretch. But otherwise a bit shaky and was lucky to see the flag shoot up after spilling a shot from Neto into the Brazilian's path in the first half.
Leny Yoro - 6 - Largely competent. Surely worth a go at centre-back now Lisandro Martinez is suspended.
Harry Maguire - 6 - A huge threat in the opposition box, notably teeing up Mateus Cunha's disallowed header, and a real leader at the back. But, and it's a big but, still can be caught out and was fortunate to survive after Neto pinched the ball off him in the first half.
Lisandro Martinez - 3 - It's a brave man who publicly attacks the club's hierarchy, then inexplicably gives away a penalty from a corner just weeks later. Having said that, a second yellow card was perhaps harsh.

Diogo Dalot - 6 - Gets unfair treatment. Tries hard and not to blame for this defeat.
Andrey Santos - 7 - Arguably produced his greatest 45 minutes at Stamford Bridge...in the red of United. Bossed the midfield, unlike his counterpart. Hooked when United needed to reshuffle with 10 men.
Carlos Baleba - 4 - Was meant to be the chosen one to spark a revival - a tag that has been applied to many at Old Trafford in the last decade - but this was a chastening afternoon. A dismal day was summed up when he ballooned a simple pass into the stands. Hooked moments later for Kobbie Mainoo.
Amad Diallo - 7 - United's brightest spark on the flanks. Did superbly to skip past Fofana late in the opening period - but, like many in red, the end product was sorely missing.
Bruno Fernandes - 5 - The defining image of Bruno Fernandes this season: hands on hips, miserably looking around. With his team under the cosh, gave the ball away with a needless flick on the halfway line as Estevao galloped clear to score. He will be relieved that VAR intervened to wipe out that strike, but nothing can spare him from replays of his horror miss in the first half when through on goal.
Matheus Cunha - 5 - Goal disallowed for offside. Every important touch looked a bit heavy.

Bryan Mbeumo - 6 - Created two big chances for Fernandes and Cunha in the first half. Let down by both. Not that he was immune to stage fright - when everyone stopped at the end of the first half, expecting the Cameroonian to be flagged offside, he froze too before sending in a hopeful cut-back, when he had time to dribble across the goal and shoot.
Subs
Kobbie Mainoo (on 58') - 5 - Only had five minutes on the pitch in 11 vs 11 before Martinez's madness. Didn't have the impact required.
Mason Mount (on 66') - 5 - Booed on his return to his former club and struggled to impact proceedings.
Ayden Heaven (on 66') - 5 - Thrown into a tough situation with the game basically done.
Joshua Zirkzee (on 77') - 5 - Tried to beat a man on the edge of the box shortly after coming on. Lost the ball. Almost punished.
